Back in the summer I wrote post on 10 Gift Ideas for Father’s Day. Having re-read it before writing this, it still seems a useful list to me. So if you or your loved ones are scratching around for man gift ideas it is worth a look.
However, here are some additional items you might consider, starting with some which make the most of seasonal sales. As before unless you are confident about size and preferences accessories are easier and safer gift items than clothing.
Formal shirts. Both T M Lewin and Hawes & Curtis have offers on formal shirts and free postage before 20th December. TML shirts start at £29.95 with a multi-buy offer of 4 shirts for £90. H&C shirts start at £25 or 3 for £69, online and 4 for £90 in store.
Trouser Braces. Look like the new M in Skyfall. See britishbraces.co.uk for trouserbraces in a range of colours, widths and types from £8.99 T M Lewin and Hawes & Curtis also have a good range but more expensive
Bow ties: Channel your inner Dr Who or even Gangnam style. If you’re going to do it though you want self-tie rather than ready tied ones. You wouldn’t dream of a pin on tie as if you were in primary school again. So why a bow tie that already tied? Get the real deal. Try pocketwatchwaistcoats.co.uk for bow ties from £12.95. TM Lewin also have a good range.
Coloured laces. You know you want to. See my recent post on Coloured laces (& shoes).
Pocket squares. There is an almost unlimited range of possibilities here. Try M&S or Tie Rack, or Debenhams. Hawes & Curtis have a great range as do TML. Bit of a stuck record here but I guess you can try TML and H&C for most things on this list. I’ve got mine from all over the place including some lovely coloured cotton ones from Tesco!
Cool Knitwear. Next have some fab button up sleeveless jumpers which are ideal for wearing under a jacket and smartening up an otherwise casual ensemble. A half zip jumper is also a great idea especially in autumnal colours
Shoe trees. Can you have too many? Find out his size and get his some. But make sure that they are good quality. Double tube trees made of cedar are the best. Jones Bootmaker are running an offer on their best shoe tree, the Albany. Now £24.50 down from £45. If looking for multiple shoe tress try CathcartElliott’s ebay store
Gift vouchers. If all else fails get him some gift vouchers from his favourite store. And make him spend them. Ideally they can be used both in store and online so that there is no excuse for not being used. Charles Tyrwhitt have gift vouchers which can be used in store, on line or by telephone.
So if you’re struggling for ideas for man gifts this might get you started.
